With the Hawks locked into the eighth seed in the East regardless of Sunday’s results, the team’s three most important players will sit. Okongwu joins Trae Young and Dyson Daniels on the sidelines. Okongwu’s absence means more playing time for Dominick Barlow, who logged two minutes in Friday’s win over the 76ers. He will likely start against the Magic.

One of the NBA’s best defenders, Daniels is in a position where his team also needs consistent offensive production. He struggled against the Magic, which is unsurprising based on what happened during the regular season. In three appearances against Orlando, Daniels averaged 11.7 points per game on 42.9 percent shooting. He’ll need to be much better on Friday night if the Hawks are to reach the postseason. Atlanta will host the winner of Wednesday’s game between Miami and Chicago on Friday, with the winner being the eighth seed in the East.

After sitting out Sunday’s regular-season finale, Okongwu had a minimal impact on Tuesday’s proceedings in Orlando. This performance was a far cry from his production in an April 8 loss to the Magic, in which the Hawks center went for 30 points, 14 rebounds, four assists and three steals. Okongwu and the Hawks return home for another Play-In tournament game on Friday, as they’ll host the winner of Wednesday’s matchup between Miami and Chicago.

Davis was impactful on both ends as the Mavericks rolled to a victory in Sacramento. He and Klay Thompson combined to shoot 8-of-9 from the field in the second quarter, which Dallas won by a 44-19 margin. Davis was also solid as a rebounder and shot blocker, and looked healthy in 35 minutes on the court. Next up for Dallas is Memphis on Friday, with the winner earning the eighth seed in the Western Conference.

Davis was listed as probable on the initial injury report, so his status being upgraded was expected. Due to the adductor injury suffered in his Mavericks debut, Davis missed the two meetings with Sacramento. He’ll need to shoulder a heavy offensive workload on Wednesday as Dallas looks to keep its season alive.

Davis was held out of Sunday’s regular season finale against the Grizzlies, as the Mavericks were locked into the 9/10 Play-In tournament game. The probable tag suggests he should be back in the lineup on Wednesday as Dallas looks to keep its season alive. Davis’s return will push Max Christie to the bench, as the Mavericks went small on Sunday.
