Aidan O’Connell completed 7-of-9 passes for 76 yards in Saturday’s preseason game against the Vikings.

O’Connell is the incumbent in the Raiders’ quarterback battle and got the first chance to work with the starters in live action. The second-year signal-caller played on just one drive and took a sack to eventually set up Daniel Carlson for a 31-yard field goal. He completed 77.8 percent of his passes in this one compared to Gardner Minshew’s 50 percent completion but saw Minshew lead the team on a touchdown drive. While he didn’t get the Raiders to the end zone, we can safely say O’Connell didn’t do anything to set himself back in the quarterback competition.
