Baker Mayfield

Baker Mayfield completed 37-of-50 attempts for 330 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions in the Bucs’ 31-26 Week 8 loss against the Falcons, adding three rushes for 11 yards.

With Chris Godwin (ankle) and Mike Evans (hamstring) sidelined, Mayfield dinked and dunked his way down the field in negative game script through much of the game. Tampa running backs saw 14 targets on the day and Cade Otton led all Bucs pass catchers with 10 targets (including two touchdowns). Tampa’s pass-heavy, checkdown offense should be excellent for Bucky Irving, Rachaad White, and Otton going forward. Mayfield had zero chemistry with rookie WR Jalen McMillan, who appeared very much not ready to be the team’s top wideout. Mayfield will be a top-12 fantasy option in Week 9 against the Chiefs.
