Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz reports the Browns are expected to agree to terms with QB Jameis Winston, formerly of the Saints, on a one-year deal worth up to $8.7 million.

It’s an odd move for the Browns — one that suggests they need a viable backup QB behind Deshaun Watson headed into 2024. The Winston signing would mean Joe Flacco would need to look elsewhere for work following his legendary end-of-season run last year as Cleveland’s starter. The volatile Winston — who spent four years in New Orleans — was all over the place in 2023, completing 53 percent of his throws for 264 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions. He could be forced into action if Watson once again struggles with myriad injuries this season.
