It’s a reunion for the two sides, as Smith-Schuster was a member of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl-winning team during the 2022 season. Unsurprisingly, that was also Smith-Schuster’s most productive season since 2018. The veteran receiver signed a three-year contract with the Patriots last season but was let go on August 9 after a disappointing 26-260-1 campaign. Smith-Schuster is walking into a far more talented receiver room than what he played in during his first stint with the team. It’s unlikely he’ll see any playing time over Rashee Rice, Hollywood Brown, and Xavier Worthy, but he’s a good system-knower who can take snaps in a pinch if injuries force him into the lineup.
