Buccaneers HC Todd Bowles told reporters that Antoine Winfield Jr. is in a walking boot Monday after suffering an injury during Week 1 against the Commanders.

Winfield Jr. — the highest paid safety in the game — picked up the injury on one of the final plays. Bowles said the 26-year-old safety was “pretty sore” after the game. His status for Week 2 is currently up in the air, and it’s worth pointing out that Tampa Bay suffered several injuries to their defensive backfield against Washington. That could spell trouble against the Lions’ passing attack.
