Per usual, Irving was the Bucs’ most explosive back by far, averaging 5.7 yards per carry plus an absurd 19.3 yards per target. Irving nearly got in the end zone in the second quarter but was barely forced out of bounds at the one-yard line on a 42-yard catch and run. The long gain came one play after Irving picked up 34 yards on the ground. Baker Mayfield capped the drive with a one-yard toss to Mike Evans. He would go on to throw all five of the team’s offensive touchdowns. While the lack of a touchdown stopped Irving short of a legendary day, he matched his RB1 talent with an equivalent role. He has earned a spot in the RB1 ranks for a must-win matchup with the Saints next week.
