David Montgomery

David Montgomery

DETRB • #5

David Montgomery rushed nine times for 31 yards in the Lions’ Week 7 win over the Vikings, adding three receptions for 39 yards.

Montgomery twisted his knee early in the game while attempting to convert on a third-and-one. He was listed as questionable to return and did so a few minutes later. The Lions understandably used him sparingly for the remainder of the game, opting to give Jahmyr Gibbs the vast majority of their carries. Gibbs ran 15 times for 116 yards and two scores. Montgomery also coughed up a fumble that Vikings linebacker Ivan Pace returned for a touchdown. It doesn’t appear that the knee issue will prevent Montgomery from playing going forward, but the Lions’ Wednesday injury report will give us more info. If healthy, Montgomery will sit on the RB1/2 border for his Week 8 matchup with the Titans.
