SEA • QB • #7
Smith will be 34 at the start of the 2025 season and has no guaranteed money left on his current deal, which runs through 2025. That said, a down year by Smith could result in the Seahawks releasing him for a dead cap hit of $13.5 million while saving $25 million. The team acquired Sam Howell from the Commanders earlier this offseason, giving up a 2024 third-round pick in exchange for his services and potentially setting him up as the team’s starter next season. Much of what the Seahawks decide to do at quarterback in 2025 and beyond will likely depend on how 2024 shapes up under first-year head coach Mike Macdonald and offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb. It’s not exactly a “prove it” year for Geno, but it could turn into one if things go similarly to last season.
