Jalen Hurts

PHLQB • #1

Jalen Hurts completed 20-of-34 passes for 278 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in the Eagles’ 34-29, Week 1 win over the Packers, adding 13 rushes for 33 yards.

It was an up-and-down night for Hurts and the Philly passing attack. The highlights included a beautiful end zone lob to Saquon Barkley for his first touchdown as an Eagle and a 67-yard catch-and-run for A.J. Brown to open the second half. On the other hand, both of Hurts’ interceptions were egregious throws that were easily picked off by the Green Bay defense. The second of the two was an ill-advised, cross-body toss into the end zone that Jaire Alexander came away with. Hurts also fumbled two snaps, one of which was lost. The infamous “tush push” made multiple appearances but was shockingly ineffective. Hurts’ final attempt at the play came at the goal line with less than a minute left and was the second of his two botched snaps. With Jason Kelce no longer leading the way under center, the free touchdown play may be off the menu for the foreseeable future. Despite coming away with the win, it was a discombobulated showing from the Philly offense. Hurts and company will look to clean up the mistakes in Week 2 against the Falcons.
