Josh Allen

Josh Allen

BUF • QB • #17

Josh Allen completed 18-of-23 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns in the Bills’ 34-28, Week 1 win over the Cardinals, while also adding 39 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Allen was playing elite football all game. His only real mistake was on the first drive of the game where he held onto the ball way too long which led to a strip-sack. Other than that, Allen was composed in the pocket and accurate while completing throws to 10 different receivers and making defenders miss in the open field when he did decide to run. The Bills did use James Cook more in the red zone than they had in previous seasons, but Allen remained very much a primary option on the ground near the goal line. It should be noted that Allen did hurt his left hand on his final touchdown run and was seen wincing when he was taking snaps from under center. It is unlikely to keep him out of Week 2’s game against the Dolphins, but is a situation to monitor going forward because it might mean more shotgun snaps for the Bills.
