Josh Downs caught 9-of-12 targets for 69 yards in the Colts’ Week 5 loss to the Jaguars.

It’s hard to say a career day was “predictable,” but Downs’ nine receptions were easy to see coming in his first start with Joe Flacco under center. He drew four more looks than any other Colt, catching four more balls than Michael Pittman. It was low-wattage, chain-moving stuff, but that is Downs’ job, especially when it’s a traditional pocket passer like Flacco. Downs will be a safe WR3 if Joe makes another Week 6 start against the Titans, though Richardson will probably begin the week on the right side of questionable with his oblique issue.
