Falcons GM Terry Fontenot said in January that the team was “comfortable” with having Cousins as their backup next season, but that seems unlikely given the money Cousins is due. Still interested in playing, Cousins said he thinks he has “a lot of good football” left in him, although the 2024 numbers marked a clear decline for the 36-year-old signal-caller. Cousins threw for 3,508-18-16 in his first season with the Falcons while completing 66.9 percent of his passes. In his final five starts with the team, Cousins threw one touchdown to nine interceptions before eventually being benched for Michael Penix. Cousins attributed part of his struggles to a shoulder/elbow injuries he said he suffered in Week 10 against the Saints. Now, he will focus on getting healthy this offseason and hopes to “know a lot more” about his playing future come March.
