NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Giants backup QB Drew Lock is “expected to miss some time, but no surgery is required” after suffering a pair of injuries in Thursday night’s preseason game.

Rapoport revealed Lock suffered “a bad bone contusion and strained oblique” but the team does not appear worried about his Week 1 backup availability. Lock played poorly before exiting and his extended preseason absence gives Tommy DeVito a chance to reclaim the primary backup role.
