Derek Carr

Derek Carr

NOSQB • #4

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Derek Carr suffered “a significant fracture in his non-throwing hand” in Week 14’s win over the Giants.

According to Rapoport, Carr is “expected to miss several weeks,” although, interim head coach Darren Rizzi said he would consider Carr week-to-week. While the Saints won’t say it, there is a chance this ends up being a season-ender for Carr. The team doesn’t plan to place him on IR, but the Saints are currently 5-8 with little-to-no chance of making the playoffs. Carr has thrown for 2145-15-5 this season, going 5-5 in the 10 starts he’s made, and is under contract through 2026. Regardless of what the Saints say, it’d be surprising if we saw Carr under center again in 2024.
