Panthers head coach Dave Canales said the team would feature Diontae Johnson this season.

“As we build our offense, we really try to feature someone,” Canales told reporters Wednesday. “And for us right now, ‘where is Diontae Johnson at?’” Canales said the Carolina offense would be centered around Johnson and how teams are covering him. It’s not too much of a surprise considering Johson’s target-earning prowess in Pittsburgh over the past five seasons, where he averaged 8.4 targets over 77 games, eclipsing 140 targets during three of those seasons. Though the Panthers should be one of the NFL’s run heaviest teams — Canales has emphasized a conservative, run-first approach — Johnson should dominate the passing attack in 2024.
