Raiders HC Antonio Pierce said he feels “really good” about Bowers’ (foot) availability for Week 1 against the Chargers.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Pierce said of Bowers’ injury, “You gotta be smart. Sometimes you gotta protect them from themselves, so that’s all it is.” Based on this news, it sounds like Bowers is close to being ready to play and that the Raiders are just avoiding rolling him out until closer to game time. With official practice reports dropping next week, we’ll have a better sense of Bowers’ Week 1 availability when those are released.
