It was mostly a good day for Darnold despite leaving the game with a loss. He completed over 80 percent of his passes and generated eight explosive plays (15+ yards) through the air with another on the ground. There were, however, a number of mistakes that could have been the difference between a win and a loss. Lions safety Brian Branch read Darnold’s eyes on a throw intended for Jordan Addison in the second quarter and made a leaping interception. Detroit scored five plays later. Darnold also took four sacks, one of which ended the game. This was a rebound from his nightmare performance versus the Jets, but it also showed the persistence of some of his flaws. Coming off his first loss as a Viking, Darnold will attempt to right the ship in Week 8 versus the Rams.
