Since earning a starting job in 2021 Lee (6'4/281) averaged 52 tackles and garnered three sacks in each of those seasons. His frame suggests a bit of a tweener build, despite having lined up on the interior for the majority of his college career (95% of snaps in 2023 according to PFF). Lee did well for himself during the pre-draft process, posting a RAS in the 93rd percentile. Having primarily played tight end in high school, Lee’s physical gains during his college career are impressive. However, he will need to further augment his build in order to be effective on the inside at the next level. His appearance suggests that there is room for the added mass, and is very deliberate in his hand placement while anchoring well against much bigger blockers. His arsenal includes a usable sumo move as well as a measured arm-over. His technique is well coached, as we have come to expect from the Iowa defensive coaching staff. As with many tweeners, he is athletic for an interior player but lacks the zip or bend that would give Lee a leg up in pass rush. Rather, his game revolves around putting himself in good play leverage by moving well laterally without giving up too much in positioning. Lee possesses a disciplined approach, albeit one that lacks creativity. His role probably best translates as a run-stopping five tech in the pros.
