The 49ers are reportedly higher on rookie WR Ricky Pearsall than they were when they drafted him despite a recurring shoulder injury.

In a radio appearance on KNBR, Mike Silver said Pearsall has played well in practice, when available, but a pre-draft shoulder injury continues to limit him. The news prompted The Athletic’s David Lombardi to provide context from GM John Lynch, saying the plan was to bring Pearsall along slowly, “to get the shoulder [100.0 percent],” adding the 49ers are “now higher on Pearsall than when they drafted him.” Had the 49ers solved Brandon Aiyuk’s contract situation already, the Pearsall story would likely be a non-issue. For now, we will continue monitoring Pearsall’s practice availability.
