Ray Davis

The Athletic’s Joe Buscaglia says Bills RBs Ray Davis and Ty Johnson are 2a and 2b in the Bills’ backfield based on practice usage.

Davis is the Bills’ fourth round pick from this year’s draft and he most recently tallied eight carries for 58 yards in the Bills’ preseason Week 2 game against the Steelers. Though fantasy managers have worry over the potential for Davis to eat into James Cook’s role, Buscaglia thinks Davis is a 2a to Cook, and not a clear backup or 1b. Based on practice usage, Buscaglia believes veteran Ty Johnson is the 2b and will split backup time with Davis due to his overall skillset matching Cook’s. The rookie Davis is not likely to eat into Cook’s role immediately, but Ty Johnson could also see backup reps through his pass-catching skillset.
