The Athletic’s Matt Barrows reports Christian McCaffrey will miss the preseason with a calf strain.

Kyle Shanahan said McCaffrey “might” miss a couple of weeks, but there are no indications that he’d be in danger of missing Week 1. The likelihood that we were going to see McCaffrey in the preseason were slim to none already as he’s a proven player, but fantasy managers should who have him would be wise to draft Elijah Mitchell as well. This is something worth light monitoring.
