Broncos HC Sean Payton told reporters Monday that the team informed Sterns that they intend to release or trade him so that he can prepare for the situation. The 6-foot-1, 207-pound safety has flashed solid potential since being a fifth-round selection out of Texas in 2021, but he hasn’t been able to stay healthy and was limited to just five games due to a patellar tendon injury. There should be interest in Sterns on the open market.
